Navi Mumbai Declares Afternoon School Holiday Amid Heavy Rainfall; NMMC Issues Strict Safety Directives
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has declared an afternoon school holiday across all schools under its jurisdiction due to persistent heavy rainfall. Issued on Friday following a review by the Municipal Commissioner, the directive applies to all managements and mandates strict student safety protocols and supervised dispersal arrangements.
The decision was taken following continuous rainfall conditions affecting the city and was approved on the directions of the Municipal Commissioner after a detailed review of the prevailing weather situation. With adverse weather conditions continuing to disrupt normal life across several parts of Navi Mumbai, the civic administration has emphasized that student safety remains the highest priority.
The municipal corporation has instructed all educational institutions that were already functioning in morning or full-day shifts prior to the announcement to immediately communicate the revised arrangements to parents and guardians. Schools have been directed to ensure that students are released from the premises only after being safely handed over to their parents or an authorized guardian. The administration has explicitly stated that no student shall be permitted to leave independently without proper authorization.
NMMC has further directed all schools to implement the order with immediate effect and make necessary arrangements for the safe and orderly dispersal of students. Educational institutions have been urged to maintain strict vigilance, follow all safety protocols, and continuously monitor further weather-related updates issued by the administration.
The civic body’s decision underscores the seriousness of the ongoing heavy rainfall situation and reflects a coordinated effort to minimize risk and prevent any inconvenience or harm to students during the severe weather conditions.
